PhD proposals in Physics in the "Saclay Plateau" laboratories
The research laboratories in Physics of the "Saclay Plateau" propose each year numerous PhD subjects, in all fields of Physics, with the aim of providing cutting edge training. If you like to join us to carry out research in high-level teams in a remarkably rich scientific environment, have a look at our PhD proposals.
About 50 research laboratories in Physics are located in the area of the "Saclay Plateau" (Orsay, Palaiseau, Saclay), 20 km south from Paris with an easy access by public transportation.

* CNRS, Université Paris-Sud, CEA, Ecole Polytechnique, Supélec, ENSTA Paris Tech, IOGS, ONERA, Université Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines...
The laboratories are affiliated to 25 different French institutions* conducting high-level research and/or PhD programs aiming now at joining their forces to progressively develop a new campus on the Saclay Plateau.
This Paris-Saclay University officially launched in 2014 has the ambition to compete with major Universities worldwide. The University of Paris-Sud as one the major institutions of this new University is already in the Top 20 according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities in Physics - 2012.

Once you have identified a subject of interest in the list accessible on this page, you should then contact the laboratory at the given e-mail address (usually that of the potential PhD supervisor). If you and the laboratory decide to build up together a PhD project, the supervisor will examine with you the possible grant applications.
It is compulsory for a PhD student to have a financial support (salary, scholarship, grant...) of the level required by the French working rules. There is a variety of different financial supports, among which your potential supervisor will select with you those which are most suitable for your case.

The PhD proposals listed here start in principle in October 2013 for a duration of 3 years typically. The deadlines for grant applications range from April to June, and it is usually necessary that you build up your PhD project with the laboratory starting no later than March.
Potential candidates are invited to check regularly this website for updates.
