Intermolecular interactions play a significant role in a variety of processes ranging from simple acid-base chemistry to functional nano-materials. At the extreme ends of the spectrum of the intermolecular interactions lie the electrostatic and dispersion interactions.
Using phenylacetylene and some of its substituted variants, we have demonstrated the ability to fine tune the electrostatic and dispersion interactions by choosing appropriate interacting partners. This talk will focus on the learning process and molecular basis for the protein folding and the structure of DNA.
